Porto Colom is one of the many villages in the Mediterranean that claims to be the birthplace of Christopher Columbus. Porto Colom was the port for the nearby town of Felanitx and is now a thriving holiday resort. The modern marina at the south end of the bay is one of the coasts most popular mooring spots.
From the lighthouse you will have splendid views towards Porto Colom.
The beach at Porto Colom is more popular with the locals who tend to avoid the larger and more crowded beaches at nearby Cala Marcal.
At the northern end you will find the tiny fishing port that has remained virtually unchained for years. You can still see the brightly coloured fishermen's cottages and the traditional style fishing boats moored alongside. Follow the walkway or road behind the cottages for a trip to the lighthouse.
In the town is a splendid sandstone church, currently undergoing renovation. In front is a quiet park.
