This Ecoclub, a member of the Ecoclub Raphaelis, is 5 walking minutes from the centre of the village of Ericeira. It offers six detached wood houses.
Each house comprises 2 floors with 2 twin rooms, 1 shower room and a living/dining area with plasma TV and equipped kitchenette, sleeping 4 persons. They are set around a large biological pound (with an additional swimming area).
Under the houses there is a wide communal space overlooking the garden, where guests find cable TV, DVD, sound system and settees. A typical Portuguese wine cellar was built , where one can enjoy his diner or just spend a good time. There is also a BBQ area, lots of space around the pound for sunbathing and a biological garden where guests are welcome to pick up fruits and vegetables for their daily meals. There is a large open space garage in the basement, where guests can park their cars and keep their surf gear.
Solar energy, water treatment and recycling and the large biological pound (where water is purified by certain plants) guarantee that your holidays will have a smaller environment impact.
Ericeira, the mecca of portuguese surfing, is amongst the prime destinations in Europe to go surfing. Its consistency of waves and the friendly vibe in and out of the water, are appreciated by visiting surfers from around the world. No matter if you are already an experienced surfer or an absolute beginner you will always find a wave to have fun.
The Ecolodges Ericeira are the perfect base for your next surf-holiday. Close to town and the spots, safe places to store your car and boards and a beautiful pool/garden area at the Ecoclub to relax after a long day of surfing.
As we are cooperating with the Surfschool and Rental Station NaOnda, we can organize everything you will need to go surfing. Lessons for beginners, kids and advanced and good quality equipement to rent.
Ericeira is a fishing village 50 km (31 miles) northeast of Lisbon, 25 km (16 miles) from Sintra and 10 km (6 miles) from Mafra. It has the Atlantic Ocean as an eternal companion. Ericeira is famous for its beautiful beaches, located where the high cliffs of the rocky coast meet the Atlantic Ocean.
Surfing is the dominant sport and sunbathing is the most popular activity of tourists who come from all over the world. However, Ericeira offers a lot more besides surfing to those interested in sport. Body-boarding, skim-boarding, windsurfing, fishing, diving, sailing, jet-skiing, water-skiing and beach-volley are some of the activities enjoyed at the beaches of the village. In addition, the modern facilities of the municipal gymnasium and the Santa Marta park offer even more sporting facilities. Or you could discover the beautiful landscape on a mountain bike, horseback riding or by just hiking around.
The tradition of Ericeira's nightlife continues to attract a regular and distinctive audience, not only Portuguese, but foreign as well, especially in summer and at weekends. A large variety of bars and nightclubs promise an exciting night.
Gastronomically Ericeira is known for its quality of fresh fish and seafood. More than 50 restaurants and seafood restaurants ("marisqueiras") offer a great variety of dishes, some famous and typical of the Ericeira area.
Ericeira offers several possibilities for itinerant visitors. Car rental agencies, taxis and public transport companies offer their services. The small buses of the "Turispraia” company run from Ribeira d'Ilhas beach in the North, through Ericeira to Lizandro beach in the South.
