Built in the 1950's the Hotel Infante Sagres is reminiscent of 19th century Portugal in its style, and is the first choice in Porto for those who appreciate luxury, comfort and tradition. It is situated in a square near the Town Hall and Porto’s famous thoroughfare, Avenida dos Aliados in the centre of the city.   It is a short walk down to the river front which has many bars and restaurants. Oporto (Porto) is a very ancient city, its original name being "Portucale", which was later to give its name to the country.
