Beachfront penthouse apartment in Caniço de Baixo, on the sunny southern coast overlooking the ocean, where one can see & hear the water lap on the shore. It has magnificent panoramic sea views towards the Desertas Islands. The apartment is situated at the end of the oceanfront promenade of Caniço de Baixo about 15 meters from the Praia dos Reis Magos [Reis Magos Beach]. The village of Caniço, with a shopping centre and supermarkets, is about 2 km away. Funchal the capital of Madeira is approx. 12 km. The airport is 13 km. A local bus runs hourly to Funchal, Caniço Village and other locations on the eastern side of the island. The bus stop is about 30 m from the apartment.
Reis Magos in Caniço de Baixo is very much a holiday resort. Outside the apartment block there are restaurants and tourist shops adding to the holiday atmosphere. There is a selection of superb restaurants all within easy reach of the apartment. They range from local food, Italian & Thai, all at a range of prices to suit all pockets. Many also do takeaway, if you prefer to dine al fresco on the veranda. The hotels are also good for food & evening entertainment. While Caniço de Baixo is a resort, it is still a quiet & friendly area. Noise is not a feature in Madeira.
The 7’6” wide veranda surrounds the apartment giving spectacular views of the Atlantic East and West. There is plenty room to walk round, sit & sunbathe or just watch & listen to the sea lapping on the sea shore. Watch the sunrise or watch all types of boats, from fishing boats to pleasure boats or cruise liners sail or cruise past. All rooms enjoy magnificent sea views. With 151 m2 of living area, apartment comprises an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and lounge area, 1 complete bathroom, 1 double room with two windows & a door opening onto the west facing veranda, and a separate TV & music room opening onto the conservatory. This was the second bedroom and now has a single bed, when required.

Caniço de Baixo is a beautiful, quiet and peaceful coastal resort. It is an ideal location for those who want a resort holiday, but away from the busy city of Funchal. It is a good location from where one can hike and walk the islands amazing levada irrigation system spanning 2,500 kilometres, which meander round the mountains.
We recommend you use Turitrans which is located at the entrance to the apartment and highly recommended by our guests. They only take a maximum of 8 on their walks and 15 on their tours. One of the reasons we do not recommend car hire is because this company does such good trips and walks and many of our guests find this a more relaxing way of seeing the island.
