Situated in the Port de Suffren at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, the boat is one of the few truly romantic vacation rentals in Paris that one naturally hopes to find when seeking an unusual alternative accommodation to the general selection of small hotel rooms and apartments of limited interest. Navigating from cargo barge to charter and now town house boat, the boat has been tastefully reconverted in the traditional style of classic wooden ships and offers the luxury and comfort of your own holiday home in an especially and delightfully romantic setting that is the river Seine in Paris, City of Light.
The boat was built in the north of Holland in 1916 and, powered by sail, she worked the inland seas and waterways of the Netherlands carrying cargoes such as steel, coal and grain. In the mid-fifties she was outfitted with diesel power, her tonnage was increased and she continued to work northern Europe and the Rhine Basin well after her 162-ton capacity was no longer competitive. Converted to a "living boat" in the early seventies, the boat continues to be a completely functional and fully autonomous river boat with her home port in Paris since 1975.
Situated in the immediate vicinity are the Hilton Hotel, Australian Embassy, Japanese Cultural Center and, recently, Maxim's on the River. Nearby, an open-air market is held twice weekly and many of the numerous boutiques, restaurants, bistros and historical sites which animate the neighborhood and give Paris much of its charm and character. All means of transportation to and from airports, train stations, EuroDisney, Versailles, etc., are readily available as is parking for private vehicles.
The tree-lined entrance to the port and cobblestone quai gives easy access to the boat’s deck-terrace, with an expansive view of the Seine and the Beaux-Arts architecture of Passy on the opposite bank. Enjoy the calm and beauty of the Seine in the City of Light as you sip cocktails in the evening or coffee in the morning reawakening with the colors of dawn and life on the river. Later perhaps, you may decide to take the boat-bus (which embarks close by) up river to the Orsay Museum or Notre Dame, or another quai and quarter in one of the oldest port-cities of Europe. Left bank or right bank, walk into town and discover Paris from the perspective of travelers long ago. Coming home is easy, even if you've forgotten the way. Just ask for the Eiffel Tower.
Refurbished recently to a very comfortable measure of style and luxury, the boat comprises two independent quarters: the aft cabin which we occupy and the very spacious forward apartment which is composed of bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and extensive living-dining area totaling about 800 sq. ft. television, VCR, fax, washing machine, linen, and tableware are provided. The boat offers a home away from home for those who prefer the freedom and comfort of a private residence as opposed to the considerations and additional costs normally associated with hotels. Should your visit be for the first time or returning for business or pleasure, you'll find the owners generally knowledgeable and helpful regarding your needs while traveling abroad.
Sleeping accommodations include 1 bedroom with king-size bed, wardrobe, coiffeuse, night table and reading lamps. Located in the living area is a second sofa which converts to 2 very comfortable single beds. More closet space is also available.
The kitchen is modern and equipped with an oven, cooker, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster and other necessities.
The bathroom has ample counter space and towel rods, a cupboard, a washing machine, and a proper ship's shower with unlimited hot water.
Please note that accommodation is not suitable for children under 10 years of age.

Formerly an active dock where much of the materials for the building of the Eiffel Tower and then the surrounding quarters of Paris were unloaded, the Port de Suffren is situated on the left bank where the Avenue de Suffren begins. Just upriver is the Iena Bridge where the Chaillot Palace and the Trocadero Gardens face the Eiffel Tower from across the Seine. Downriver, a short promenade on the tree-lined Isle of Swans, the Statue of Liberty welcomes river traffic coming up from the cities of Honfleur and Rouen.Over the years, as government subsidies to the railroad have placed the French mariner on the endangered species list, working barges have gone to the scrap yard in large numbers. Some were rescued by the young and foolhardy reclaiming a style of life which now animates the old quais of Paris and a piece of its history. Today there are approximately 400 ships moored along the banks of Paris representing more than a century of Belgian, Dutch, German and French navigation of inland waterways.
