An exclusive residential deluxe penthouse apartment, very refined and only 200 meters (5 minutes walk) from the beach in Caniço de Baixo. This luxury apartment has two balconies overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Desertas islands. On the sunset balcony there is a set of 4 wooden chairs and a wooden table to relax while you read a book. On the other balcony there are two sun beds to sunbath. The views are excellent overlooking the sea and you have still the chance to see the farmers working on the terraces to the inland. It is the sort of location that makes you feel in peace of mind and admire the landscape without being isolated from what is happening in the capital of Funchal.

Located on the top floor of a 5 floors apartment building and served by a lift, the apartment comprises 90 m2 living area spread over two floors. Both golf courses in Madeira Island are situated on the East side of the island. Driving from the apartment is approximately 20 to 30 minutes which makes it handy for golfers. From Madeira's international airport to the apartment it is approximately 15 km or about 10 to 15 minutes car drive. We can arrange a transfer service for two people with a qualified driver for the total cost of €20 one way. Rent a car is not essential because there is a very efficient and frequent bus timetable to Funchal city centre. If you wish to be more independent, then a rental car is recommended. Equipped and furnished to a very high standard, apartment consists of 2 balconies overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Desertas islands, sun loungers and a mini bar room, living room with cable TV, stereo, DVD, leather sofas and combined dining room seating 6 persons, 1 large bathroom with jaccuzzi and a big window overlooking to the sea, 1 double room on the top floor, fully fitted kitchen, utility room air conditioning and a safe box.

Property owners leave for guests during their stay, some literature about the highlights of this breathtaking island, namely a flowers book, the Levadas and footpaths of Madeira Island to discover the lush vegetation and amazing landscape of the island. An insight view book over the interesting spots and traditions, a phrase book to teach you some Portuguese language, a map of the whole island for your directions, a bus timetable to and from Funchal city.

Holidays in Caniço are perfect if you're looking for some well deserved r'n'r. This pretty village sits at the top of a steep winding road, with stunning views out to the Atlantic. It retains an air of tradition, displayed in the main square with its cobbled streets and 18th century church. There are a few quaint shops, as well as bars and restaurants, bustling with locals.

The area around Canico is well-known for being a walker's paradise. The vast network of levandas lead into rolling green hills and valleys of the countryside. Here you'll find some of the beautiful floral displays that Madeira is famous for. It's the perfect setting for relaxing holidays, still only 12 km from Funchal city centre.

Golf enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice when it comes to fairways. Dig out your nine iron and head to one of the championship courses close by. You've got the 18-hole Palheiro and the 27-hole Santo de Serra, which is home to the Madeira Open.

From Caniço, a road snakes downhill to Caniço da Baixo, only two kilometres away. This place is known for its great water sports facilities, like windsurfing and waterskiing. It's also known as one of the island's premier scuba diving spots, with a wealth of caves and grottos. Watersports aside, it's also home to one of the best hotels, Riu Palace Madeira. This little beauty has bagged a spot right on the seafront, offering wonderful views.

We have been renting a lot of apartments and villas abroad and by experience you get "a noose" for what is bad and what is good, and this was definitely the second option. The first contact by phone when we arrived at the airport confirmed that feeling. Marco Ferreira must be one of the world's most welcoming persons! It was easy to find the apartment from his directions and when we stepped into the apartment we were overwhelmed by the tasteful decorations and beautiful furniture and every thing else in the apartment is so nice too! He really has a personal touch that you seldom see in similar holiday properties. Small details add big value. And even if you have seen the pictures on the internet, the "real thing" is even better. The biggest surprise was the bathroom, the picture in the internet did not quite give justice to how luxurious in fact it is. We are writing this after we have stayed almost a week in the apartment, and the first impression lasts......Altogether we have had a very relaxing holiday with a lot of good food, lovely views and staying in a beautiful and comfortable apartment owned by a caring host. What more can you ask for? Perhaps an other week's stay....... Love and blessings....
