Caniço de Baixo is the sort of place where you will find peace of mind. The sea and the beach are very close to you all the time, so you can swim whenever you feel like it or just seat down in one of the bars by the sea having a drink and admire the beautiful landscape surrounding you. There is an excellent bus timetable to and from Funchal city, in the case that you do not wish to drive in your holidays. The hotels nearby offer a program of entertainment in the evenings and they welcome visitors The waters of the Garajau Natural Marine Park are a big pull for visitors looking to sample some scuba diving and diving on Madeira.The best of the scuba diving is around Caniço de Baixo, and a choice of scuba diving companies hire out equipment, give scuba diving lessons, and organise excursions. The golf courses are within less than 30 minutes driving from the apartment. In the case that you wish to walk in the famous Levadas, there are some in the area.

J&M from UK Review Submitted: June 8, 2010 Date of Stay: May 2010 A very well equipped apartment with a lovely view of the sea. Very helpful letting agency, pick up from the airport was very convienient. We managed well without a hire car. Buses to Funchal at least one an hour from the bus stop just 3 mins walk away 1.70 euro. Would recommend the expresss about 20 mins or 45 on the slower bus. Also the No 2 bus stops about 10 mins away. The nearest supermarket is in Canico town, a long uphill walk about 2.5 km. or a 10 min bus ride 1.05 euro.Taxi back about 7 euro. Nice town and restaurants. Lovely gardens in the Quinta Splendida Botanical Garden. The beach aand promenade are about 150 meters down a very steep hill. Hard work coming back up. There is a bar and a restaurant at the bottom on the sea front. Many other restaurants within 15mins walk in Canico du Baxio. Weather was great in May about 21-24c with a pleasent breeze off the sea. The sun was on the balcony in the morning. |
