Jules More from Twyford, Berkshire, UK Review Submitted: October 5, 2011 Date of Stay: September 2011 Excellent Apartment My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Paradisus. The apartment was exactly as it was in the pictures, very well furnished and had everything you could possibly wish for as well as being immaculately clean. The agents were very helpful and provided all the information we could need for an enjoyable stay. The area is very hilly and after a day's walking up and down the hills we decided to rent a car, which gave us complete freedom to see many places, as well as save our poor legs! There are many restaurants to try in the local area, all providing good, reasonably priced food. The apartment block is very quiet, which suited us fine, but if you are looking for more excitement this is not the place for you. The only negative I have to give is that there was noisy building work taking place next door which starts at 8 and continues to 6, for 6 days out of the 7 we were there (Sept 2011). Madeira is just one big hill and that is one of the reasons we get beautiful views where ever you are, but it also means walking up or down all the time. Unfortunately the building work started and we were not aware as it has been on hold for so long, but we are glad to say that the noisy work is now finished. We hope you decide to visit Madeira again some time in the future. |

Nigel & Alison H. Review Submitted: October 1, 2011 Date of Stay: August 2011 Home From Home! We stayed here for just over a week and it was truly excellent! The pictures don't really do justice to this beautiful apartment... Apart from a fully equipped kitchen with separate eating area and two balconies, there is a massive lounge/dining room with large widescreen TV plus DVD player and in addition to the bathroom, there is a separate laundry room with washer/dryer, which came in really useful, as our washing machine broke just as we were leaving home! The cleanliness, quality and finish is far superior to any holiday apartment that we have ever stayed in and the finishing touches really do make it "home from home" e.g. a selection of DVDs and reading books, plus a comprehensive guide to all the local amenities and tourist attractions. The people who manage the apartment on behalf of the owners will pick you up from the airport (providing that you contact them beforehand), plus arrange hire cars and deal with any issues whilst you are there, so that really does make things straightforward and hassle free. The pool (with showers and the usual facilities) provides an ideal way to cool off after a day spent exploring the island, which has much to offer for those wanting to relax as well as the more adventurous! There are two restaurants close by... Klenk´s Cafe/Restaurant provides a good selection of seafood and other dishes (I recommend their "house beer") and Giuseppe's is ideal if you like Pizza and Italian dishes (just up the road). The bus service into Funchal is frequent and provides a cost effective way of getting to the main town where you can take a cable car to Monte and visit the Botanical Gardens there (well worth doing). Hiring a car allows you to discover some of the more remote parts of the island. Apart from the new roads, which go through tunnels, the other roads negotiate their way across the mountainous terrain via an endless series of hairpin bends... The only exception is on top of the mountains where you will find some straight roads and even some cattle! So what are you waiting for... Go for it!
